Transfixed by the Light

There is something beautiful in the way the vast sky, land and cliffs meld in the Alpes Maritime landscape. Up on the plateausx of the Préalpes you feel like there is a peace and a certain timelessness.

This painting contains many layers of paint which adds body and depth. Several hours of scumbling with different colours over one another using a dry brush gave me the soft ethereal mood I was after. More graphic elements provide a contrast and suggest solidity against the gentle light filled background.
